    • Call 9-1-1 and provide as many details as possible in a calm manner

       

  • I need police assistance, but it’s not an emergency. Who do I call?

    • Call the main telephone number for the Berwyn Police Department (708-795-5600) and select Option 2 after listening to the prompts.

       

  • Can I report a crime online?

  • What are the curfew hours

    • The City of Berwyn ordinance 660.04 states that any person under the age of 18, unless accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or is on their way to or from work may not be on the streets during the following hours:

      • 10:30 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. Sunday to and including Thursday

      • 11:30 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday

      • Normal school hours when school is in session

      • Any juvenile in violation of this ordinance can face a fine of up to $750.00 for each occurrence.

         

  • How can I report suspected child abuse?

    • Call the non-emergency number (708-795-5600) and select Option 2 to tell the communications operator that you need to speak with a Juvenile Detective about suspected child abuse.

       

  • How can I report suspected elder abuse?

    • Call the non-emergency number (708-795-5600) and select Option 2 to tell the communications operator that you need to speak with a detective in the Criminal Investigative Unit about suspected elder abuse.

       

  • How do I report animal abuse?

    • Call 9-1-1 if it is an emergency situation. If it is a non-emergency, you can call the non-emergency number for the Berwyn Police Department and select Option 2.

       

  • Where can I obtain crime prevention information?

  • Where can I obtain domestic violence information?

  • How can I report a hate crime?

    • Call the non-emergency number (708-795-5600), select Option 2 and tell the communications operator that you need to speak with a detective in the Criminal Investigative Unit about a hate crime.

       

  • How can I obtain a restraining order/Order of Protection?

  • What can I do about annoying or threatening phone calls?

    • If you are receiving threatening or harassing phone calls, save the message(s) and come to the Berwyn Police Department. See the Desk Officer to file a police report.

       

  • How can I obtain information on sex offenders in my neighborhood?

  • How can I report an identity theft, forgery or fraud?

    • Come into the Berwyn Police Department and see the Desk Officer, who will take your information and complete a police report.

       

  • How can I report gang or drug activity in my neighborhood?

    • You can call the Berwyn Police Department non-emergency number (708-795-5600) and select Option 8 and then select Option 0 (zero). This will allow you to leave a message for the Tactical Unit. Provide as much information as possible such as:

      • What happened?

      • Where and when did it occur?

      • Description of activity

      • Description of vehicle(s)

      • License plate number(s)

      • Time and direction of travel of suspect(s)

      • Description of suspect(s), including clothing

      • You can leave your name and phone number if you would like a Tactical Officer to call you back.
