How Do I Report a Crime?

Call 9-1-1 when a crime is in progress or if it is a medical emergency or an incident that has resulted in serious personal injury, property damage, or property loss.

When you call try to remain calm and ready to provide as many of the following facts as you have available:

  • What happened?
  • Where (address) and when did it occur?
  • Is anyone injured?
  • Description of vehicle(s)
  • License plate number(s)
  • Time and direction of travel of suspect(s)
  • Description of suspect(s), including clothing

While it may seem as though you are being asked a lot of questions, the information is for the safety of the responding officers. The Communications Operator is attempting to gather as much information about the situation as possible so the responding officers will have a clearer picture of what they may encounter when they arrive at the scene. Please remain calm and cooperate with the Communications Operator.

If it is not an emergency, you can call the non-emergency number for the Berwyn Police Department (708-795-5600) and after the recording comes on, select Option 2 and you will be connected with the Communication Operators.
