Parking - General
Resident Parking Only between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. is in effect citywide. This restriction is in place seven (7) days a week and is in addition to any other parking restrictions posted on your block. The parking penalty for vehicles without a current and valid sticker is $100.00.
Any and all types of vehicles owned by residents of Berwyn or by businesses licensed in the City of Berwyn must be registered with the city and have affixed to said vehicle the applicable city sticker or tag on an annual basis. City Vehicle Stickers are valid from July 1st to and including June 30th of the following year. Click here for more information, including cost, on Vehicle Stickers.
Please keep in mind that once a vehicle has incurred $250.00 in parking fines, a wheel-lock will be applied to the vehicle, making it inoperable. The owner of the vehicle will then have 72 hours in which to pay all fines in full, plus any administrative costs, in order for the wheel-lock to be removed. If at 72 hours the fines are not paid, the vehicle will be towed and will only be released when all parking penalties are paid, in addition to the towing and storage fees incurred.
As you can see, it is important to pay any parking fines in a timely manner to avoid a wheel-lock on your vehicle. In 2010, the Berwyn Police Department acquired digital equipment which has the ability to read the license plates on any street in Berwyn and alert the officer that a vehicle has $250.00 in parking fines. This equipment provides the Berwyn Police Department with an effective and efficient means of locating vehicles with numerous parking violations.
