Yes, you can report a crime anonymously.
You should know that when you call 9-1-1, your phone number, name and address are automatically displayed on the Communication Operators monitor. This is done to provide the information to responding police, fire and emergency medical technicians in case you are unable to remain on the phone due to your individual situation, such as a heart attack, smoke from a fire, etc.
When you call 9-1-1 to report a crime, you can ask the Communications Operator to maintain your anonymity and this will be done when ever possible..
If you call the Berwyn Police Department’s non-emergency phone number 708-795-5600, and after the prompts, select Option 2 to be connect to the Communications Operator, your name and address will not appear on the operator’s monitor and you can remain anonymous.
